Listen To Your Body

If there's one thing that I always find in my mailbox, it's questions from runners about their injuries: how to avoid them, how to treat them, and how to recover from them.

Almost all the questions have to do with the physical side of injuries…the sort of thing that I talk about in detail in the "How To Run Like A Deer Forever Injury Free" course. In fact, the course was created specifically to help runners at all stages in their "race" -- tortoises, hares, and rabbits-in-training -- prepare their bodies and their minds to "go the distance" by staying injury-free.

For many people, the mental "pain" of not being able to run is worse than the physical pain of their injury. So what do they do? They rush back to their running regimen only to re-injure themselves. Instead of "coming back," they wind up on the "disabled list" for a longer period than if they would have been just a little more patient.

So please, when you're injured, listen to your body…not your mind! Don't rush the recovery process. Even if you're the ultimate "Comeback Kid," it's going to take some time to engineer that comeback.

And, if you must, eliminate running entirely from your exercise program until your injury is 100% healed. Think of your down time as an opportunity, not a punishment.

Think of your injury as a great reason to take a well-earned vacation…to explore alternative forms of exercise.

Hey, how about this? While you're off your feet, you can fine-tune your running strategies with "How To Run Like a Deer Forever!" It can be a great workout when recovering from minor injuries and will keep you in shape while you are recovering.

Run smarter and you'll run longer.

Remember, if you are experiencing pain, see a doctor as soon as possible.

And, if you are thinking about or have given up running because of pain or fear of injuries, give my course a try. You can order here: http://www.runningtough.com/order.html.
